A division of the British automaker, Rover, the first Sterling automobiles arrived for U.S. sale in 1987. The two passenger car models sold in the U.S. were developed in cooperation with Honda, who contributed many chief components. While U.S. sales of the Sterling nameplate ended in 1991,
Rover continues to produce vehicles under its own brand for other international markets.
