The Chrysler
Corporation began as the Maxwell Motor Corporation, which hired Walter
Chrysler in 1921 to help the company out of bankruptcy. Chrysler flirted with
bankruptcy again in the early
1980s, but Lee Iacocca and the K-car came to the
rescue, followed in 1984 with the introduction of
the market-changing minivan.
In November 1998 Chrysler became a division of the newly formed
company DaimlerChrysler AG, created by a merger between Daimler-Benz and the
Chrysler Corporation.
